About the Instructor:

Instructor artist and writer Susanka Biernat (Susan Biernat
Leddy) has a degree in Fine Arts, Cum Laude, from the
University of Anchorage, Alaska. She studied extensively with
Russian artist Wassily Somer—a protogee of Kandinsky. She
has shown in galleries in California and Texas and in her own
California gallery “Inspirit”. She has taught classes in painting,
collage and writing for over 30 years for both adults and
children. Susanka has won several juried awards for her
paintings and collage. She is also a published poet and author.
Susanka recently came to Washington after a stint in Juarez,
Mexico, where she worked with abandoned and abused
children at La Casa de Vida y Pas (The House of Life and Peace)
teaching arts and crafts. While in Juarez, she created a wall
mural for the Children’s Home and a large outdoor 80 foot by
10 foot mural.

Now settled in Kennewick, Washington, she is excited to
explore the art world in the Northwest and resume her
teaching.
