Two Kilts Tasting 11/23

Two-Kilts-Brewing-Co.

Two Kilts Brewing Company was founded by two great friends in the summer of 2009.  Chris and Alex had found them selves talking about starting up a brewery many times and finally after who knows really how many times it came up it was decided that a new brewery would be born.

Chris had an extensive background of many many years with home brewing and had been told by many that his beers should be brought to market.  Alex had many years of home brewing experience as well but also had something Chris did not, and that was a vast knowledge of commercial brewing since that was his current line of work.  This made for a very comfortable relationship beyond just being good friends to start a new nano brewery.

Stop by from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday, November 23rd to see just what makes this Sherwood Brewery so dear to our hearts!

Girasole Vineyards 12/12

vineyard.png

  vineyard

Girasole Vineyards (pronounced jeer-uh-so-lay) wines are made from certified organic grapes grown on the rolling benchlands of Redwood Valley in the Mendocino appellation of Northern California. All of the grapes that go into our wines are estate grown, and hand-picked from family owned and operated vineyards that date back to the 1950's.

Charlie likes to say that he’s “been farming organically for 50 years; the first 30 I didn’t know it. There was no organic certification process. Prior to World War II, growing without commercial chemicals and fertilizers was standard procedure." The vineyards have been certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers for the past 20 years.

Lagunitas Tasting Thursday November 14th, Lagunitas will be here for a tasting! 5pm-8pm

The Lagunitas Brewing Co. was not so much an act of ordinary ‘foundling’ as it was willed into being by the unspoken desire of supportive beer-lovers in Northern California after which they continued to nurture their creation and urged us forward to fulfill the unifying needs of that same beer-loving diaspora from coast to coast and beyond. It is good to have friends!

Pelican Brewing 11/15

Pelican.png

Join us on November 15th for a tasting featuring the beers of Pelican Brewing!  5pm-8pm Pelican

In 1995, Jeff Schons and Mary Jones purchased an old brick building on the oceanfront in Pacific City.  Over Sunday morning coffee, Jeff and Mary came up with the idea of opening an oceanfront micro-brewery.  As they knew almost nothing about the brewing process, they decided to attend a Craft Brewers conference in Portland.

While at the conference it occurred to Mary that there might be a brewer there that might be interested in joining the Pelican Pub & Brewery.  On a hand-written 3 x 5 notecard tacked to a bulletin board, Mary scribbled the details of what they were looking for.
It was this notecard that caught Darron Welch's attention.  After several eager phone calls to Jeff and Mary, Darron and his fiance moved to Pacific City and Darron began brewing test batches of beer down the street in mini-storage units while the Pelican was under construction.  On May 4, 1996, the Pelican opened its doors and the rest is history.

"Mike and Lisa Hinkley took their interest in the craft beer industry to a new level in 2002 when they founded Green Flash Brewing Company. Former pub owners, Mike and Lisa jumped into brewing, and in 2004 renowned brewmaster Chuck Silva joined the team.

With Chuck on board we began brewing premium style beers, modern twists on traditional styles, and our beers began to develop a following. Cutting edge brews, Green Flash Brewing Company’s beers don’t fit traditional guidelines, instead we let our hybrid, benchmark beers blaze their own trail.

Located in San Diego, CA, we specialize in brewing assertive and distinctive beers, such as our West Coast I.P.A.: an award-winning beer whose wide acceptance has helped define a category. We also brew seasonal, collaborative and barrel-aged beers.

Our award-winning beers are on draft and bottled and are available throughout the United States in bars, restaurants and retail outlets.

We take craft brewing very seriously. We are brewing trailblazers and we believe in continuously evolving. Above all we champion the enlightened beer drinker. The Flash of Genius stories shed a (green) light on the rich heritage, flavor complexities and detailed process poured into our quality beers. Drink the beers, learn the story, taste enlightenment."

Ballast Point Tasting 11/2

ballast.png

Come on over to Uptown for a Ballast Point tasting from 5pm to 8pm Saturday, November 2nd! ballast

After developing a taste for beer in college, founder Jack White decided to try making more interesting beer than he could find in the store or at a keg party. He developed a talent for home brewing in his back yard and soon realized it wasn’t easy to get access to the various supplies and ingredients he wanted—nor did he have anyone with whom to trade ideas about brewing.

In 1992, Jack opened Home Brew Mart, which he filled with the supplies, ingredients, and conversation every brewer needed to make better beer at home. Soon after, he found a collaborator in Yuseff Cherney, a fellow home brewer with a similar passion and a set of home brewing awards to boot. Together, they decided to open a “back room” brewery out of Home Brew Mart. In 1996, Ballast Point Brewing was born.

Jack and Yuseff’s philosophy has always been doing what they love, and making what they love to drink. So, naturally, they named the beers after something they loved almost as much as brewing—fishing. Today, many of the beers are named for fish or fishing terms, and the labels have fish on them as an homage to the brewery’s origins and as a reminder to always do what you love.

Mil Piedras Tasting 10/26

mil-piedras1.png

mil piedras Join us on Saturday, October 26th from 5-8pm for a tasting featuring Mil Piedras!

Mil Piedras wines are made with estate-grown fruit from a single vineyard located in one of the most prestigious wine regions of Argentina, Valle de Uco. Benvenuto de la Serna, maker of Mil Piedras, is a small family winery owned by Silvio Benvenuto (Italian immigrant) whose mission statement is to “make 100% estate and 100% handcrafted wines."

The vineyard is located 1100 meters above sea level. Tucked away in the western most-end of Mendoza, the region has semi-desert climate with constant bright sun shines and very little rain fall. This region has the most pristine environment for water supply, essential for the vines in the desert, which comes from fresh snowmelt off the Andes mountains directly next to the vineyard (literally).

Gluten free? Know someone who's gluten free? Well here's an awesome chance to try great Gluten Free beer! Yes, there is such a thing! As always, 5pm to 8pm! harvester

Harvester Brewing is a dedicated gluten-free brewery. Every beer that we make is gluten-free, made in our brewery where no gluten containing items are allowed through the door. We brew, bottle, and distribute our beer from our production facility in SE Portland.

The Harvester Ethos
Local, dedicated, gluten-free. We source our ingredients as locally as possible. Our chestnuts come from Randy, our farmer in the Willamette valley. Our hops are also from the Willamette Valley. We use no corn derived sugars or any coloring agents in our beer. Our beers are vegan. All of our brewing, roasting, and bottling equipment is new and never used for anything but our gluten-free beer.
Our approach to making great gluten-free beer is a simple one: don't start with what you don't want. We start with ingredients that are naturally gluten-free and craft them into great beers in our brewery. We don't and never will use barley, wheat or rye and then attempt to chemically or enzymatically remove the gluten.

Burnside tasting!! 10/18

burnside.jpg

Join us for an evening with Burnside Brewing! 5pm to 8pm! burnside-brewing-company

When Burnside Brewing Co. opened its doors in 2010, the vision was concise. Focus on easy to drink beers that accompany and enhance the culinary experience. Brew master Jason McAdam is a creative trendsetter in brewing, bold enough to take risks and smart enough to leave a creative impression on your taste buds. He balances our desires for tradition such as the Oatmeal Pale, then throws in food inspired beers such as the Sweet Heat, an apricot wheat beer dry hopped with scotch bonnet peppers that is reminiscent of a Caribbean chutney.
