Uptown Beer Co. Presents its 4th Annual Dark Beer Fest

 

For years now we have collected the most exciting and interesting Dark beers and we put them all on tap at once as part of our Black Saturday Dark Beer Fest. 2020 started like any year and we collected Dark beers. Well, as we all know 2020 didn’t end like any year, but we had still begun our collection.

Thanks to having a special 8oz crowler machine we were able to keep Black Saturday alive as a take home dark beer fest. Thank you so much for embarking on this adventure of dark beer. Listed bellow are the beers in each tier as well as our Rare Bottle Sale, known as Beer Jail Pardons. Black Saturday will be back next year, hopefully inside of Uptown Beer Co!

 

Raffle!

Fremont Dark Star Bourbon Barrel Aged Oatmeal Stout 2020 - 12.7%

This year’s release is a blend of 24, 18, 12, and 8-month Bourbon Barrel-Aged Dark Star in 7-12-year old Kentucky bourbon barrels. The roasted and chocolate malts complement the smooth oats to bring you a stout delight wrapped in the gentle embrace of bourbon barrel-aged warmth. A touch of sweetness dances in balance with the hops to finish with a wave, and then she’s gone.

Georgetown Mega Meow Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2020 - 10.1

A deep, dark brew from which no light can escape, MegaMeow sinks its fangs into you with a bracing bite. After patiently waiting in solitude for one year, out of Heaven Hill bourbon barrels emerges a chaos of flavors and aromas of chocolate, bitter molasses, vanilla, currants, figs and stone fruits. Barrel Aged MegaMeow demands submission - succumb to its dark secrets.

Almanac Barbary Coast Imperial Stout 2016 - 10.0%

This decadent imperial stout was brewed with oak staves, sea salt, a hint of spicy chili and Dandelion Chocolate cacao nibs. Pair with rich chocolate cake and a flair for adventure!

Anderson Valley Huge Arker Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout 2017 - 13.5%

After primary fermentation, the beer is aged in Wild Turkey® Bourbon barrels until it fully matures. The deep mahogany color is evocative of the opulence to follow. Dark luscious aromas of burnished oak mingle with candy sugar, bourbon and hearth-baked bread. The luxurious flavors redolent of honey and molasses are intertwined with the richness of dark chocolate and the ardent warmth of alcohol, underpinned with hints of coffee, vanilla and dark fruits.

Georgetown Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter 2019 - 11.0%

This imperial version of our 9lb Porter is a blend of beer aged in Westland Distillery and Heaven Hills barrels. Bourbon and vanilla notes from barrel aging intensify the plush roasted and chocolate notes and aromas, making this a winter sipper sure to please.

Crux Tough Love Bourbon Barrel Aged Rye Imperial Stout 2016 - 11.5%

Our fourth vintage of an annual favorite, this year’s Tough Love remains true to form— bold, yet wonderfully nuanced— with its own unique personality. After being banished to Kentucky Bourbon barrels under controlled conditions for nearly a year, rich overtones of dark roasted malt, oak-smoked wheat and malted rye give way to delicate notes of velvety chocolate, vanilla and dried cherries.

Perennial Sump Imperial Columbian Coffee Stout 2018 - 11.5%

This year's Sump uses a Fair Trade, Organic bean from Columbia that has notes of sweet caramel, ripe fruit and cinnamon which meld harmoniously with our rich Imperial Stout.

Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout Bourbon Maple Barrel Aged Coffee Stout - 11.6%

CBS was born when we stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. We opted to put the same base beer as KBS, an imperialized version of Breakfast Stout, in the maple barrels and, after one taste, we knew we had something special. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience.

Founders Lizard of Koz Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout with Blueberries 2017 - 10.5%

This one is near and dear to our hearts. Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki wanted to make the birthday of his little sister, Liz, a special one. So he did what he does best and brewed a stout using a few of her favorite ingredients: fresh Michigan blueberries, rich chocolate and vanilla aged in bourbon barrels to round out those beautiful flavors. Liz was floored and we think you will be too.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter

Ale w/ Coffee Cinnamon 2019 - 14%

This year’s release of B-Bomb is aged in 12-year-old American Oak bourbon barrels and is a blend of 9, 12, and 24-month old barrel strength Winter Ale. This special edition adds cold brew coffee and cinnamon bark to complement the bourbon, oak, cacao, and leather notes achieved from B-Bomb’s extended barrel aging and barrel blending.

Fremont Rusty Nail Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout with Cinnamon and Licorice 2019 - 13.9 %

The Rusty Nail begins life as The First Nail, an oatmeal stout of epic proportions with brewer’s licorice, smoked barley, and pale malt and is then aged on cinnamon bark. She becomes The Rusty Nail after spending 15 months in 12-year old bourbon barrels. The Rusty Nail pounds your palate, challenges your perception of all that you’ve known of beer, and leaves you wanting … another sip.

Mikkeller Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout with Coffee, Vanilla and Maple Syrup 2019 - 13.2%

In the beer geek breakfast series – the beer that really put Mikkeller on the map, we decided to shake things up by adding a truck load of vanilla to the french press coffee trick, creating a whole new dimension to the beer that are loved by freaks and geeks worldwide. Not only that, we then placed it in bourbon barrels for 8 months for a truly unique beer experience. Aromas are sweet filled with vanilla. Palate starts with milky sweetness and offers roasted malts, chocolate and coffee.

Black Butte XXX is an imperial porter brewed with dutched cocoa and 100% wood aged for one year in bourbon, rum, cognac, port, sherry, vanilla extract, maple and salt barrels. In celebration of 30 years, this imperial porter delivers notes of salted chocolate, whiskey and dried fruit and is not to be missed

Fremont Coconut B-Bomb Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Ale with Coconut 2019 - 14%

This year’s release of B-Bomb is aged in 8–12-year-old American Oak bourbon barrels and is a blend of 9, 12, and 24-month old barrel-aged Winter Ale. This special edition adds toasted coconut to complement the bourbon, oak, cacao, leather, toffee, and dark coffee notes achieved from its extended barrel aging and barrel blending. Each barrel contributes a different note, and combining each barrel to create a coherent tone is a distinct art and true pleasure.
